3 reasons why to eat more lentils

Lentils is cultivated because of the edible seed that resembles the shape of the lens, which is what we call it. It comes from a family of legumes, and in our diet it has been since the Palaeolithic.

A brief history, let’s go to real stuff, three main reasons why to eat lentils.
1. Fiber
100 grams of lentils contain as much as 10.7 grams of fiber which is a great quantity, especially if we take into account that the daily needs of adults are the following:
- men: 38 grams
- women: 25 grams
2. Iron
100 grams gives us 6.50 mg of iron which is a very good quantity, given that for adults the daily needs are like this:
- men: 8 milligrams
- women: 18 milligrams
3. Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)
If you are pregnant, folic acid is of utmost importance to you and you need more than normal amount, so it is recommended for pregnant women to have 600 mcg of folic acid. 100 grams of our lentils contain 479 mcg of folic acid, so you almost all of the intake!
